Woman vanishes while riding dirt bike at El Mirage Dry Lake Bed

Sheriff’s officials are asking for help finding a 63-year-old Long Beach woman who went missing while riding a dirt bike at the El Mirage Dry Lake Bed on Friday.

Julie Elizabeth Goforth was last seen about 10:20 a.m. July 10 at the dry lake bed west of Adelanto, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

She was riding dirt bikes with a friend when she decided to head back their vehicle to take a break, officials said.

“When Julie’s friend went back to the vehicle, Julie was not there,” the sheriff’s department said in an written statement. “An extensive area check has been conducted with Sheriff’s Search and Rescue and Aviation’s assistance, but Julie has not been located.”

The missing woman’s Kawasaki KLX300R dirt bike also remained missing.

“Julie is at risk due to the severe heat and the possibility she has no water,” the statement added.

Goforth was described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, about 140 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a white shirt and black-and-white dirt bike pants.
