The Seattle Mariners remain optimistic about the recoveries of Julio Rodriguez and Brendan Donovan, though neither player is expected back immediately after the All-Star break.

Manager Dan Wilson said Rodriguez continues progressing through concussion protocol in Seattle, while Donovan is still working toward the start of a rehab assignment.
Rodriguez has been on the 7-day concussion injured list since taking a throw to the back of his helmet during a July 2 game against the Los Angeles Angels. The 25-year-old was batting .259 with 14 home runs, 40 RBIs, 12 stolen bases and a .747 OPS before the injury.
Nothing new on the Mariners injury front. Julio has continued to work out in Seattle and the hope remains he will be ready to return late this week. Donovan is expected to begin his rehab assignment in the next few days.

The latest update suggests Rodriguez is likely to return late next week if he continues recovering without setbacks. His return would provide an immediate boost to a Mariners lineup that has missed his power, speed and defense in center field.

Donovan remains slightly behind Rodriguez in his recovery. The versatile infielder/outfielder is expected to begin a rehab assignment soon, with a return to Seattle projected for the following week if everything goes as planned.
Before landing on the injured list with a left groin strain, Donovan was batting .274 with three home runs, eight RBIs and an .839 OPS. His ability to play multiple positions should give Seattle added flexibility once he is activated.
The Mariners enter the All-Star break with a 47-49 record, trailing the Texas Rangers by 1.5 games in the American League West. Getting Rodriguez back late next week and Donovan shortly afterward could provide a timely lift as Seattle begins its second-half push.
