The 30-year-old Johnson was designated for assignment last month and outrighted to El Paso. He is hitting .222/.341/.264 in 20 games.
Left fielder Carlos Rodriguez (.759 OPS) went 2-for-4 with his third homer.
Catcher Blake Hunt (.896 OPS) had two hits and designated hitter Nick Solak (.871 OPS) went 1-for-4 with a double and a run scored.
Right-hander Alek Jacob (5-2, 4.38 ERA) earned the win with a strikeout in a scoreless ninth.
