Firefighters are making progress Saturday toward containing a wildfire at the Chute Ravine near Dobbins in Yuba County.

The 163-acre Chute Fire was 40% contained Saturday morning, according to a Cal Fire status report, which is up from 30% Friday afternoon. The blaze didn’t spread overnight.
More than 1,200 crew members are assigned to the fire, according to Cal Fire’s Saturday morning report.
“Today’s efforts are focused on strengthening containment lines around the fire. Crews will continue improving existing control lines while identifying and extinguishing interior pockets of heat,” Cal Fire wrote in a statement.

Cal Fire’s top priority is along the Yuba River, according to its website, because that’s where heat could affect unburned vegetation.
As of Saturday morning, an evacuation order and warning were in effect for those east of Dobbins between Marysville Road and Yuba River, according to Cal Fire. More details are available on Cal Fire’s website.
