CBS is facing public pressure to publicly discipline Tony Romo following his arrest over the weekend.

Romo, the longtime star quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys and CBS’s current top NFL analyst, was arrested on suspicion of OWI (operating a vehicle while intoxicated) in Wisconsin. He had played in a golf tournament in his home state. Romo was arrested on Thursday night.
The 46-year-old Romo was pulled over on southbound Interstate 43 at about 6:18 p.m. CT after he “performed poorly” on standardized field sobriety tests, according to Milwaukee County Sheriff’s records.
Romo is currently scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 21, which would be the Monday night of the NFL’s Week 2. Romo will likely be announcing the Patriots vs. Steelers game in Week 2 that weekend. But Romo is now facing punishment pressure.
CBS, which has yet to publicly comment on the arrest, is facing pressure to publicly discipline Romo in the wake of his incident.

NFL fans are calling for CBS to suspend Romo, perhaps for the first game or two of the 2026 NFL regular season, in the wake of his OWI arrest.

“CBS needs to make it clear that this kind of behavior is not OK and suspend Romo,” one fan wrote.
“If this was a player or a coach, they would probably be suspended. CBS needs to do the same to Romo,” one fan added.
“Driving while intoxicated is never OK. CBS needs to act swiftly here,” one fan added.
“I’m a Romo fan, but this is not good. He needs to face public discipline for this kind of behavior,” one fan added.
“CBS better suspend him,” one fan added.
It remains to be seen what kind of punishment, if any, Romo will be facing at CBS.
