Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham believes it’s “common sense” to keep transgender athletes out of women’s sports.

Cunningham, who has become quite popular during her second season with the Indiana Fever, sounded off on her opinion during an interview with ESPN.
In an ESPN feature, Cunningham said that she wants to “protect young girls in the locker room” and that “they shouldn’t have to go against biological men.”
“I said what I said. I think it’s kind of common sense,” Cunningham told reporters before Indiana’s 123-88 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday. “And I think I’ll always believe in that. I think it’s really important to protect children, and that’s little girls who are also involved in that category. I stand on what I said.”
But not everyone agrees with Cunningham.
Cunningham’s podcast co-host, West Wilson, made his opinion on transgender athletes extremely clear in a social media clip.
Wilson, the former ‘Summer House star,’ sounded off
Wilson made it clear where he stands.
“Right-wingers have convinced a massive portion of people in our country that (transgender athletes) are a threat to sports in America, when mathematically that’s not the case at all,” Wilson said.

“So, I think there are unique questions that can be handled on individual bases, but to allow this to take our attention away from housing and healthcare and wars and all of the other actual harmful (expletive) in our country is dumb.”
Fans are praising him, while others disagree.
“West Wilson built a reputation for lying to the people closest to him on Summer House. Selling out a childhood friend for attention is completely on brand,” one fan added.
“Dude it’s pretty basic and your girl hit the nail on the head! If it’s no big issue then be quiet,” one fan added.
“Good for him for standing up,” one fan added.
“How does a man know the ways women in sports are being affected? Just another man repeating talking points,” one fan added.
