Waite, who played Division 2 women’s soccer at Central Washington University during the 2018 and 2019 seasons, was originally from Alaska. However, she had moved to San Diego, California and was set to get married. Tragically, her body was found floating in the waters of the San Diego beaches.
The former NCAA women’s soccer player’s body was “discovered floating in the waters of La Jolla Shores Beach on Wednesday morning after bystander spotted her body and alerted the San Diego Police Department.”
The California Post reports that she “was pronounced dead at the scene, and the cause of death cause of death has not been determined.”
Waite is the second former NCAA athlete to be found dead in the area in recent weeks. In June, Summer Nash, 34, a former volleyball player for San Diego State University and Florida International University who later coached at several programs, was found dead in the water near the ocean pier.
