Davis townhouse development to break ground next week. Here’s what to know

Construction of a new 12-unit townhouse complex in downtown Davis is scheduled to begin Monday, the city announced in a news release.

The development, Sweetbriar Townhomes, will be built at 724 and 730 G St. Developers plan to subdivide the two parcels and construct four three-unit buildings. Each of the 12 townhouses will have three or four bedrooms and range from 929 to 1,211 square feet.

Construction will be carried out by Sage Builders LLC. The project includes demolishing two existing buildings during the week of Aug. 10.

Construction is expected to take 12 to 14 months, according to the city. Work will take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays, with occasional weekend work between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Construction and demolition activities are expected to cause sidewalk closures on G Street and Sweetbriar Road, as well as intermittent street and bike lane closures when necessary.
