Urban Meyer lasted less than one full season in the NFL.
The legendary college football head coach, who won three national championships, was fired by the Jacksonville Jaguars late in Year 1 of his debut season. Meyer clearly lost the Jaguars’ locker room, after allegedly kicking a player during practice, failing to know who Aaron Donald is and being spotted with a young woman at a bar during an off weekend.

But Meyer, who is now an analyst for Fox Sports, is admitting that things went wrong in the NFL. Well, he’s admitting what he believes to be true, anyway.
Meyer admits what he believes went wrong.
“That’s where I struggled in the NFL, I think, so bad. How do you develop trust? Trust takes time. Maybe I was used to the college player. The younger person who would come over to the house. I would get to meet his family. There’s none of that at that level. It’s grown men doing a grown man’s job. You lose trust… You lose a locker room. You lose a team. You lose everything,” he said.
“The way I earn trust is by being with a guy for eight hours a day. Having you around my family. Being around your family. You see exactly what makes me tick. I’ll do anything for you… And I would expect you to do the same for me. That’s a trustful relationship. That takes a lot of time. I was in the weight room every day. I was in the quarterback meeting rooms. Those guys were over my house. There’s no hesitation. There’s no second-guessing. When you don’t have that… It’s painful. I’ve experienced that a few times.”

NFL fans are questioning that, though
NFL fans aren’t necessarily buying his explanation.
“Other ways to lose trust: – kick your own player – go to bars instead of returning home with the team after a road trip – not know who Aaron Donald is Can do like 17 sequels to this if needed,” one reporter shared.
“Urban just isn’t that good of a coach when he can’t buy all the best players. Simple as that. Same with Saban,” one fan added.
“I think it was his sports bar deal, but that’s just me,” one fan added.
Meyer is owning up to what he thinks went wrong, though not everyone is on his side these days.
