A car meet-up in Elk Grove ended with over 100 citations and the towing of a Lightning McQueen-lookalike car after a disruption broke out Monday.

According to the Elk Grove Police Department, officers were conducting a traffic enforcement operation at the shopping center parking lot meet-up when several attendees became involved in a fight, forcing nearby businesses to temporarily close their doors.
Police conducted 121 vehicle stops, issued 105 citations and towed three vehicles, according to the release. One of the towed vehicles was decorated to look like Lightning McQueen, the animated character and star of Disney’s animated film “Cars.”

“From Ka-Chow to Ka-Ching!” the department wrote in the release, quoting the animated character’s tagline.

The release said the enforcement operation was part of the department’s “ongoing commitment to keeping our roads safe, protecting our community, and preventing illegal sideshows, reckless driving, excessive speeding, and other dangerous behavior on our roadways.”
