The Folsom Police Department will hold a sobriety and driver’s license checkpoint Friday evening at an undisclosed location within the city, the agency said in a social media post.

“Our goal is simple: keep our roads safe by deterring impaired driving,” the release said. “If your plans include alcohol or cannabis, make a plan before you go. Designate a sober driver, use a rideshare or taxi, or arrange a safe ride home.”
Funding for the checkpoint is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, authorities said.

California law requires drivers to stop at sobriety checkpoints when directed by law enforcement officers.
The department said in June that DUI checkpoint locations are “determined based on data showing incidents of impaired driving-related crashes.”
