A driver was hospitalized after firefighters responding to a vehicle crash Monday morning in Arden Arcade discovered the person had apparently been shot, Sacramento County sheriff’s officials said.

Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District personnel responded about 8:30 a.m. to the 3300 block of Fulton Avenue at Edison Avenue for a reported vehicle collision and found the driver with a gunshot wound, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The driver was taken to a hospital but their condition was not immediately known.

Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies and investigators remained at the scene Monday morning. Authorities had not released information about what led to the shooting, where the shooting occurred or whether they were searching for a suspect.
