Bayern Munich will play their final preseason match today before the Bundesliga season kicks off. Vincent Kompany’s side will take on 1. FC Heidenheim as the German champions look to head into the new campaign in positive form.

Bayern have picked up consecutive wins in their last four fixtures which included wins against FC Rottach-Egern, Jeju SK FC, Aston Villa and, most recently, RB Leipzig, whom they defeated 3-1.
Die Roten are also boosted by the returns of Harry Kane, Michael Olise and Dayot Upamecano following their extended breaks after the World Cup.
This fixture is particularly important, as Bayern will face Borussia Dortmund just four days later in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup, with the first official silverware of the season up for grabs.
Kompany will also have to deal with a few fitness concerns, including Konrad Laimer, Minjae Kim and Jamal Musiala who suffered a health scare in Bayern’s last match. In the dying stages of the match, Musiala suddenly went down before receiving treatment from the medical team and being substituted.
Heidenheim, meanwhile, have made a mixed start to life in the second division. They opened their campaign with a 4-3 victory over VfL Osnabrück before suffering a heavy 4-1 defeat to Hertha Berlin last weekend.

Historically, Bayern have held a dominant advantage over Heidenheim, winning five of their seven meetings.
Heidenheim managed just one victory against the Bavarian giants, while the other meeting ended in a draw, which came in their most recent encounter.
Matches between the two sides have generally been high-scoring, averaging 5.71 total goals per game.
