What better way to celebrate the spooky season than with a family night of Movies Under the Stars? Held every October by the Downtown Sacramento Partnership, the seasonal outdoor movie series screens films every Thursday and Friday of that month.

Starting at 7 p.m., movies are typically screened at Old Sacramento State Historic Park. The films are projected on a large outdoor screen, and viewers are given wireless headphones to listen in.
Previous Halloween-themed titles included “Ghostbusters,” “Beetlejuice,” “The Goonies” and “Hocus Pocus.”

It’s not Halloween without Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock conjuring spells in “Practical Magic,” or Sarah Jessica Parker’s maniacal laugh as she whizzes through the Salem sky on her broom.
This year’s movie lineup will be released this week, on Thursday, Aug. 27th, and tickets go sale Sep. 3rd.
