A driver was killed early Tuesday after a vehicle crashed into a pole and caught fire on the edge of Rancho Cordova, according to California Highway Patrol logs.

The crash was reported about 1:15 a.m. near the intersection of Hazel Avenue and Folsom Boulevard, just south of Highway 50. CHP incident logs said a Toyota Camry overturned and caught fire after apparently striking a light pole.
Emergency crews responding to the crash confirmed just after 1:30 a.m. that the driver had died inside the vehicle. CHP logs said the vehicle had been traveling south on Hazel Avenue before the crash.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office was expected to identify the driver after next of kin were notified.
