A grocery store chain known for its affordability is opening a location in Galt on Thursday.

Galt’s first Grocery Outlet will welcome customers beginning at 7 a.m. at 10570 Twin Cities Road.
Grocery Outlet sells discounted groceries by purchasing excess products from manufacturers, according to its website. These products are either discontinued, overstocked or an inventory surplus.
To celebrate the grand opening, Galt Grocery Outlet is giving its first 100 customers an in-store gift card. The cards will have random values with the maximum worth $500, according to a news release.
First arrival customers will also get a reusable gift bag and an opportunity to win $1,000 in free groceries. The store is donating $1,000 to Sunshine Food Pantry in Galt in tandem with the opening.

Nick Nguyen, who owns the Galt Grocery Outlet, said the store seeks to add “more variety” to businesses in the region. With Galt being a small city, he said he believes the inclusion of the market will complement the area well. Nguyen previously owned the Grocery Outlet in Fairfield.
“Other than affordable groceries, we’re going try to help the community as much as we can,” Nguyen said. “We want to be a good partner to all members of Galt.”
