The Giants placed their white-hot slugger on the 60-day injured list with a core muscle injury before Sunday’s 4:20 p.m. first pitch (Peacock/NBC) and selected outfielder Scott Bandura’s contract from Triple-A Sacramento.
Devers has 25 homers over his last 67 games (1.034 OPS), including one in each of the first two games of this series.
The left-handed-hitting Bandura, 25, was hitting .320/.407/.488 with 13 homers and 34 steals in 131 games split between Double-A and Triple-A.
The Padres (80-68) won both games and have won six in a row to build a 1½-game lead over the Diamondbacks in the race for the NL’s last wild-card spot.
That’s pushed their postseason odds at FanGraphs.com to 68%.
The Diamondbacks had an early afternoon start against the Texas Rangers on Sunday.
Rookie Ethan Salas will make his third start behind the plate and his second with Pivetta after guiding him through five shutout innings on Monday.

Salas, who is 0-for-14 with five strikeouts, will bat ninth.
Dustin Harris (.707 OPS) will get a second straight start in the two-hole and man right field as Fernando Tatis Jr. (.813 OPS) will start again at second base because Jake Cronenworth (.581 OPS) is needed at first base for a third straight game without Ty France (paternity leave).
Luis Campusano (.840 OPS) will serve as the DH and clean-up hitter and Samad Taylor (.777 OPS) will play left field and bat eighth.

Sunday’s pitching matchup
Padres RHP Nick Pivetta (2-2, 3.43 ERA)
He threw five shutout innings in a win on Monday in his first start since April (flexor). Pivetta struck out two, allowed two hits and did not walk a batter. Pivetta is 5-1 with a 3.83 ERA in 10 games (seven starts) in his career against the Giants, including a win in April (5 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 2 BBs, 10 Ks).

Giants RHP Logan Webb (8-8, 4.10 ERA)
The three-time All-Star’s strikeout rate has dropped from 9.7 per nine innings last year to 7.3. He topped 200 innings each of the previous three seasons, but is at 15 ⅔ innings so far. Webb has a 3.60 ERA in 110 innings in his career against the Padres, but he has allowed nine runs in 10 innings across two starts this year.
