Patrick Mahomes is back, but Kansas City probably won’t ask him to play hero ball right away. Coming off major knee surgery against a Denver defense that led the NFL in sacks last season, quick throws should be the name of the game. Travis Kelce remains his security blanket, while new running back Kenneth Walker III gives him another easy option underneath. Mix in a quick, high-percentage passing approach, and Mahomes should have plenty of chances to stack completions without taking many big hits.

Broncos K Wil Lutz Over 1.5 Field Goals Made (-134)
Sean Payton has trusted Lutz since their New Orleans days, and that relationship has worked out pretty well in Denver. Lutz has drilled 89 of 100 field goals over three seasons and made multiple kicks in four of his final five games last season, including the playoffs. He also did it twice against Kansas City. Steve Spagnuolo’s defense has a knack for giving up some ground before slamming the door near the end zone, which should keep Lutz plenty busy Monday night.
Chiefs Under 20.5 Team Total Points (+120)
Patrick Mahomes is back, but Denver isn’t exactly rolling out the welcome mat. The Broncos allowed only 18.3 points per game last season and held Kansas City under 20 in both meetings. Vance Joseph’s defense can make quarterbacks uncomfortable, especially with a pass rush that led the NFL in sacks. Mahomes will eventually look like Mahomes again, but fresh off major knee surgery, this is a tough defense to face while knocking off the rust.
