The Los Angeles Dodgers received an encouraging update from Miguel Rojas after the veteran shortstop dealt with a shoulder injury scare during their series against the Miami Marlins.
Rojas revealed that he aggravated a tear in his right labrum but plans to avoid the injured list. David Vassegh reported the update on X.
Rojas is expected to receive a cortisone injection as the Dodgers try to keep him available for the final stretch of the regular season.

The veteran has been an important part of the Dodgers’ infield this season, appearing in 95 games while hitting .272 with a .313 on-base percentage, .391 slugging percentage, three home runs and 20 RBI.
His ability to play shortstop and move around the infield gives manager Dave Roberts another valuable option as the Dodgers manage several injuries.
Freddie Freeman is also dealing with a lingering issue. Roberts said the first baseman will be held out over the next few days while the team manages soreness in his right knee.

Freeman has continued to produce despite the discomfort. He is hitting .293 with a .371 on-base percentage and .447 slugging percentage through 142 games, with 16 home runs, 66 RBI and 156 hits.
The Dodgers are also still without Shohei Ohtani, who is dealing with knee and biceps inflammation. With the postseason approaching, keeping their key players healthy has become increasingly important.
Los Angeles remains in control of the NL West at 90-59, nine games ahead of the San Diego Padres. The Dodgers’ magic number to clinch the division is four.
The Dodgers can afford to be cautious with the division lead in hand. The bigger concern is making sure Rojas and Freeman are healthy enough to contribute when the postseason begins.
For now, Rojas appears determined to avoid a lengthy absence, while the Dodgers will continue managing Freeman’s knee before October arrives.
