Dual Classic winner Golden Tempo will train up to the Breeders’ Cup Classic at his Keeneland base, the Daily Racing Form reports.

The Cherie DeVaux trainee is back at Keeneland and is expected to resume breezing next week, following his third-place finish in the Grade 1 Travers Stakes at Saratoga on Aug. 29.
The 1 ¼-mile Breeders’ Cup Classic will be Golden Tempo’s first race against older horses.
“He’s continuing to improve – all the metrics have improved. But he’s going to have to take a big step forward,” DeVaux told DRF.

Golden Tempo has finished in the money in all seven career starts. He debuted with a last-to-first victory in a six-furlong sprint at Fair Grounds in December of his juvenile year. He then captured the G3 Lecomte in January before a pair of third-place efforts in the G2 Risen Star and G2 Louisiana Derby. He closed from last to upset the Kentucky Derby and won the Belmont Stakes in his next start.
Golden Tempo, a homebred for Phipps Stable and St. Elias Stable, was bred in Kentucky. He is by Curlin out of graded stakes winner Carrumba (Bernardini).
Devaux-trained stablemate G1 Woody Stephens and G1 H. Allen Jerkens Memorial winner Englishman is also at Keeneland and will train up to the Breeders’ Cup Sprint, per DRF.
