Driver dies after car hits pole near West Sacramento; alcohol or drugs suspected

Alcohol or drugs were believed to be factors in a Saturday crash that killed a driver on Clarksburg Road near West Sacramento, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened about 7:25 a.m. on Clarksburg Road west of Jefferson Boulevard. The driver was traveling west when the car left the road and struck a pole, according to a preliminary investigation by the CHP’s Woodland office.

The driver died at the scene, CHP officials said. The Yolo County Coroner’s Office will release the driver’s name after next of kin have been notified.
