Paddy Pimblett is no stranger to being sought after in the fighting world.
Liverpool, England’s own Paddy ‘The Baddy’ has perfectly followed the blueprint to be successful in mixed martial arts. Be good on the mic, put on entertaining fights, and back up the talk. Conor McGregor did it before him, but Pimblett has his own style. With his unusual accent and deceptively elite style of fighting, the 31-year-old has worked his way to the pinnacle of the sport. A former UFC title challenger, with many eyes on what he’ll do next. But despite all of his accomplishments, and even with him likely being just one win away from fighting for UFC gold for a second time, there is a man determined to end all of the hype.

Paddy Pimblett had an incredible 14 fights during his eight-year stint in Cage Warriors. In that time, he suffered just three defeats. The last man to beat him before his move to the UFC was a man rightfully nicknamed ‘The True Viking’: Soren Bak.
Bak has a treasured history as a mixed martial artist of his own, winning both the Cage Warriors lightweight and interim featherweight titles. But in 2022, the Dane suffered severe knee injuries that required him to have both knees entirely rebuilt. A dominant presence with an incredible 16-1 record, Bak is determined to fight his way back to the cage and eventually the UFC.
Detailing his win against Paddy Pimblett, Bak said:
“We touch gloves and we get into an early scramble, and he knocks me off my feet by basically pushing [his feet] against the fence. He gets my back; he gets the body triangle from the back. He gets the full rear-naked choke under the chin, and I’m like, ‘Damn. Did I bring my mother to Liverpool to make her watch me lose the first round?’ No, it’s not going to happen.’”
Pimblett exerted a lot of energy trying to get the finish, but by rounds two and three, he didn’t have much left to compete. Bak took complete control from then on, battling his way to a unanimous decision victory after almost losing early in the opening round.

Soren Bak was also complimentary of Pimblett. Bak revealed that the Scouser spent half an hour speaking to him and his mother following the fight, showing himself to be a true gentleman once the dust settled.
But that doesn’t change Bak’s ultimate goal: to show the world he’s better than Paddy Pimblett.
“I promise, if it happens, if I get to the UFC and have a debut fight, I’m going to call him out. That’s for sure,” Bak added.
