Best NRFI and YRFI Bets Today
Philadelphia Phillies at Washington Nationals NRFI (-130)
Phillies stud RHP Zack Wheeler takes the ball at 12-5 with a 3.14 ERA. A five-run blowup against Seattle four starts ago ballooned his first-inning ERA to 3.60. He has kept it clean in his last two, though. The Nats go with RHP Jared Simpson, who will make his first MLB start. He’s 1-0 with a 6.75 ERA in three relief appearances spanning four innings. He has not pitched in the first inning this season, leaving no first-inning sample to support this side of the NRFI.
Milwaukee Brewers at Pittsburgh Pirates NRFI (-145)
The Brew Crew sends RHP Logan Henderson to the mound at 10-3 with a 2.34 ERA. Good luck hitting him in the first as he has a 1.12 ERA and 25 K’s in 16 first frames. The Bucs go with RHP Jared Jones at 4-6 with a 4.10 ERA. He’s also electric in the first with a 2.00 ERA and 28 K’s in 18 first frames.

San Francisco Giants at St. Louis Cardinals YRFI (-120)
RHP Anthony Molina makes his fourth start for the Giants. He’s 3-1 with a 5.24 ERA. He has only allowed one earned run in three first frames, but the rest of his body of work is pretty shaky. LHP Matthew Liberatore goes for the Cards, and after making the Opening Day start, he has been one of the worst starters in the league. He’s 5-14 with a 5.53 ERA, and it’s even worse in the first with a 5.90 ERA.
What Do NRFI and YRFI Mean in Baseball?
The term NRFI indicates no runs scored in the first inning. Its opposite, YRFI, indicates yes, there will be a run in the first inning. It doesn’t matter if the run qualifies as an earned run or not. If a run crosses the plate in the first inning for either team, the wager loses for the NRFI side and wins for the YRFI side.
