Michael “Venom” Page has been drumming up interest since his UFC departure.
Being one of the best fighters in the world doesn’t automatically earn you a place in the UFC anymore. If you’re not entertaining or don’t resonate with fans, you could be on the chopping block, no matter how many wins you collect. That was the case for Page during his time in the octagon. Five wins out of six wasn’t enough to keep him around. And while he may not have long left in the sport, he has no shortage of suitors since his release from the UFC.

Michael “Venom” Page is weighing up his options, and a brand new one just surfaced. Scott Coker and Rich Chou are the brains behind the new Ki MMA promotion, which promises to turn heads once it gets underway. And already, Chou has announced his interest in Page, saying:
“Well, Page, obviously we have great history together. He represents everything that we love about martial arts and MMA. So, yeah, look. I think it makes sense for, we both should, you know, both sides should feel the need to talk. It shouldn’t just be a one-way street.”
Chou reveals that if Page reaches out, he will be taken seriously about becoming one of the first fighters under the Ki MMA banner. But the company won’t stop there. With many free agents out there waiting to be snapped up, Chou is hoping to sign many of them.

“I think if you’re a free agent out there, you should see what your options are. You should test the waters,” Chou said. “I think we’ve shown throughout our history at Strikeforce and at Bellator that we will invest in free agency. We will shake things up a little bit… Free agency’s a real thing.”
“We have an eight-figure war chest that Scott alluded to for free agents… That is the hardest part of coming back in the business today; it’s who’s available. And when could they be available? I think, it seems to me like the current situation, the current state of the sport, the business, a lot of fighters were deeming hit perhaps not worth it to test it. Hopefully we can come, change the narrative, and shake things up. And make fighters realize that they have, they have a real option here with us, and it’s certainly going to be worth the conversation for both sides.”
