KC Keeler and Jeff Monken aren’t the most famous names in college football coaching, but they’ve been around for a long time, and their respective teams will do just about everything right as they meet on Friday night.
Keeler has put together a nice Temple (1-2) team, but he doesn’t have much to show for it so far this year in the win column. It beat Rhode Island and played Penn State tough in a loss, and last week it balled out in one of the best games of the weekend in an overtime loss to Toledo.
Army (1-1) blew out Bryant, and two weeks ago lost the American opener to USF. Lose this, and that’s about it for any conference title hopes.

Why Army Will Win
Temple’s defense is having a rough time.
It wasn’t roasted by Penn State, but it couldn’t stop the Nittany Lion passing game. It was roasted by Toledo, and it really couldn’t stop the Toledo passing game.
Army isn’t going to throw the ball 51 times like the Rockets did, but along with the loaded ground game, it has the ability to at least make the passing game a concern. Cale Hellums hit nine of his ten pass attempts in the loss to USF, and running back Zach Mundell connected on his one throw for 37 yards.
Why Temple Will Win
Yes, Penn State’s passing game rolled on Temple, but the Owls really did hang in there – it was just 10-3 at halftime and still 20-3 deep in the fourth. Yes, Toledo’s offense went off, but it came down to the Owls in overtime, and they misfired on the two-point conversion attempt for the win.
Quarterback Ajani Sheppard kept pushing the ball deep, ran for 66 yards, and he has to be contained by an Army defense that’s not getting in the backfield.

Army vs Temple Prediction, Betting Lines
Both teams will have the other figured out. Army’s running game won’t go off, but it’ll be effective enough to control the tempo. Temple will hang around long enough for the offense to come up with the two drives it needs to have late in a fun four-quarter battle.
