Lamar Jackson was putting together one of his best halves of the season when the Baltimore Ravens lost him. The two-time MVP hurt his ankle late in the second quarter Sunday against the Tennessee Titans and has been out of the game since halftime.

The Ravens listed Jackson as questionable to return, but Tyler Huntley took the first snap of the third quarter with Baltimore ahead 24-7 and has stayed in at quarterback. Jackson was tripped up from behind while scrambling on a sack just before the half, according to The Baltimore Banner’s Jonas Shaffer, then limped to the bench and went to the locker room early. He returned to the sideline for the second half without his helmet.
This is a new problem. Jackson was limited in Wednesday’s practice with a back issue, but coach Jesse Minter said “he was dealing with something small,” and Jackson was a full participant by Thursday and came off the injury report.
Before he left, Jackson had completed 15 of 20 passes for 222 yards and two touchdown passes, one each to Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews, and had run twice for 20 yards.
Who is Ravens backup Tyler Huntley?
Huntley, 28, signed with Baltimore as an undrafted free agent out of Utah in 2020 and made the Pro Bowl after the 2022 season. He spent 2024 with the Miami Dolphins, came back to the Ravens last year and re-signed in March on a two-year deal worth up to $11 million.

The Ravens have won with him. Huntley went 2-0 as the starter when Jackson was hurt last season, beating the Chicago Bears 30-16 and the Green Bay Packers 41-24. Against Chicago, he completed 17 of 22 passes for 186 yards and a touchdown pass and ran for 53 yards.
“I don’t think he could have played any better than that,” then-coach John Harbaugh said after the Bears game.
Huntley is 7-9 in 16 career starts. Behind him, undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano was inactive Sunday as the emergency third quarterback after a summer competition for that job.
Minter’s postgame news conference should bring the next update on Jackson’s ankle.
