Nico Collins Shares Thoughts After Texans’ Heartbreaking Loss in Week 4

The Houston Texans came agonisingly close to their first win of the season but fell to the Dallas Cowboys 34-30 on Sunday. Houston led by 10 points at halftime and regained a 30-27 advantage late in the fourth quarter, only for Dallas to drive 74 yards and score the winning touchdown with 40 seconds left. The loss dropped Houston to 0-4.

Nico Collins was back after missing the previous two games with a hamstring injury, and made an immediate impact on the field. He finished with seven catches for 118 yards and two touchdowns. Collins was understandably disappointed after the loss, explaining his mood post game.

“We disappointed in the loss. It was a great week of preparation, man, great week of grinding. Fall our tails off. We just fell short,” Collins said.

“That’s what it is. What happens in this league, man. When you go against the best, Dallas is a great team. You got to come out, man. Every play matters. And every rep matters, but we just fell short. And for right now, we just got to take that on the chin, find ways to get better, and keep moving forward.”

Collins’ presence opened space for Jaylin Noel, who had three catches for 85 yards, including a 52-yard reception, while Xavier Hutchinson added three catches for 46 yards.

C.J. Stroud Takes Accountability as Texans Search for Answers

Stroud had every reason to be frustrated, but he did not throw his teammates under the bus. Instead, he said he needed to do more. He specifically pointed to third downs and finding bigger plays that could help Houston sustain drives and finish games.

Stroud completed 21 of 31 passes for 347 yards and two touchdowns, with no interceptions. His 126.7 passer rating was his best of the season, and his 11.2 yards per attempt showed how aggressively he pushed the ball downfield.

“I got to find a way to find bigger plays, I guess, on third down, trying to get us first downs. I thought I took care of the ball, try to do the best as I can in that area. But I think it doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, we got to be able to win,” Stroud told reporters during his postgame press conference, per Heavy. “I have to do more, you know, and put more on my plate, then I’m fine with that. And, you know, we got to go find ways to win. But that’s the main thing, and I think as a team we all feel that way.”

There is little time to dwell on the Cowboys loss. The Texans travel to face the Tennessee Titans in Week 5 on Sunday, October 11, at 1 p.m. ET.
