The $11.99 million project was to be funded through a partnership among Placer County, the city of Lincoln and the South Placer Regional Transportation Authority.

Under the funding agreement, the South Placer Regional Transportation Authority was to contribute about $6.86 million, while the city of Lincoln was to provide up to $2.32 million and Placer County was to contribute up to $2.82 million from transportation development fees.

The project was not expected to require additional funding from the county’s general fund.

Currently, motorists entering Sierra College Boulevard from Twelve Bridges Drive must stop at a stop sign. County officials said the intersection meets the criteria for a traffic signal based on peak-hour traffic conditions.

Placer County Supervisor Shanti Landon, who represents the area, said the project would provide an important safety improvement at the intersection.

“I want to thank county staff, the City of Lincoln and the South Placer Regional Transportation Authority for their partnership and efforts to advance this project,” she said.

The county, city of Lincoln and the transportation agency developed the funding plan in partnership with Bickford Improvement Co., the developer of Bickford Ranch. The company agreed to oversee construction of the improvements.

An agreement with Bickford for construction is expected to come before the Board of Supervisors for consideration at its next meeting, Oct. 20.
