Fantasy Football WR Rankings: Who To Start Week 5?

With many big-name wide receivers dealing with injuries that are leaving their Week 5 status up in the air — plus the first week of NFL byes underway in 2026 — I’m recommending many more names than usual as starting options for fantasy football leagues.

Read more Fantasy Football Injury Update: Fantasy Managers Set to Rejoice as Justin Jefferson Expected to Play Week 5

One of those names who’s emerging is rookie Tennessee Titans wideout Carnell Tate, who alongside steady Wan’Dale Robinson gets the Houston Texans this week; they’ve been one of the weakest defenses against wideouts all season.

Also, see who’s facing the other ridiculously favorable defense, the Detroit Lions, and why they’re ranked so high.

Start ‘Em: Week 5 Fantasy Football WR Sleepers

  • Carnell Tate and Wan’Dale Robinson, Titans vs. Texans
  • Jordan Addison, Vikings at Saints
  • Marvin Harrison, Cardinals vs. Lions
  • Isaiah Williams, Jets vs. Browns

Carnell Tate and Wan’Dale Robinson are the latest corps who could capitalize on the Texans’ friendliness to WR stats. Expect Cam Ward to have to heave the rock constantly and perhaps in quick succession on short routes to avoid Houston’s elite pass rush. Both wideouts excel in that window and should pile up catches.

I’m buying the Carnell Tate breakout.

The 9-145 line in Week 4 was great, but it’s the growing opportunity that has my attention. His targets have climbed from 5 ➡️ 9 ➡️ 12 over the last three weeks.

He’s one of my favorite Week 5 sleepers. #FantasyFootballpic.twitter.com/qNfT49emLM

— Dan Clasgens (@DanClasgens) October 8, 2026

Even if Justin Jefferson (ankle) suits up, Jordan Addison should see favorable matchups 1-on-1 with a Saints secondary that bends but often doesn’t break. Still, the deep threat should be put in position for at least one big play.

Marvin Harrison had a cameo in Week 4 with a single catch that happened to go for a touchdown. Detroit’s pass defense is friendly to all opposing positions. With fantasy standby wide receivers like Tetairoa McMillan and Rashee Rice on bye, it’s a fine opportunity to see if the maligned wideout can turn things around in a prime matchup.

Adonai Mitchell (finger) remains questionable to miss a third straight week, but Isaiah Williams has filled the deep-threat role well for Geno Smith, including a 58-yard TD catch in Week 4. As long as opponents avoid CB Denzel Ward, the Browns also have shown few answers to opposing wideouts.
