One killed when vehicle plummets off side of 15 Freeway at Cajon Pass

A person died after a car plummeted 200 feet over the side of the 15 Freeway at the Cajon Pass early Sunday, authorities said.

The crash was first reported shortly before 6 a.m. Oct. 11 along the freeway south of Cleghorn Road, according to California Highway Patrol logs.

A witnesses reported the vehicle went over the side of the roadway and plummeted about 200 feet down a cliff. It came to rest near Applewhite and Keenbrook roads.

One person died at the scene. A description of the victim was not yet available.

No further details were released as the investigation remained in its early stages.
