Unplanned outage in El Dorado County leaves thousands without power

An outage has cut power to more than 2,500 customers in El Dorado County, state and utility officials reported.

The unplanned outage, near Diamond Springs south of Placerville, began at 11:33 a.m. Sunday, the California Office of Emergency Services said.

Repair crews are working to restore power, the Pacific Gas & Electric Co. said. The utility said it expects to repair the outage by 4:15 p.m. Sunday.

The outage affects 2,576 customers, the office of emergency services said.
