Washington Wizards forward and Chicago native Anthony Davis challenged fellow Chicago native and Bears fan comedian Dyon Brooks. If Green Bay wins Brooks would have to wear a Packers’ jersey and if Chicago wins, Davis will have to wear a Bears jersey.

“Hey Mojo, I know you’re holding it down for Chicago right now. And I know, I know: how can a guy from Chicago be a Packers fan?” Said Davis.

“But the Packers are playing the Bears today. Whoever’s team loses has to wear the winning team’s jersey. You in?”

Brooks replied, “Yo, AD, I’m not even gonna go back and forth with you. You’re with Green Bay? Stay with them. And when we win, you’re gonna do what you should’ve been doing anyway, because you’re from the city: put on a Bears jersey. So, when we win, get ready to put it on.”

“You got a deal, ’cause I’m not worried about it. Talking about you’re a Packers fan. No wonder your eyebrow won’t break up. That’s cheese on your face, a straight line of cheese across your head.”

How a Chicago Kid Became a Packers Fan

For a Chicago native, Anthony Davis has an unlikely favorite football team. The big man became a Green Bay Packers fan only after reaching the NBA, and he credits former Kentucky Wildcat Randall Cobb for winning him over.

“I didn’t really follow football like that,” Davis told Green Bay TV reporter Dave Schroeder of his time before making the NBA. “Then when I got to the league, I had to choose a team, and just knowing Randall Cobb, I fell in love with the Packers ever since.”

During a 2020 media scrum, when Davis was still with the Los Angeles Lakers, he was asked how a kid from Chicago ended up a Green Bay fan. “My dad pulls his hair out every day trying to figure out why I’m a Packers fan,” he said, according to Spectrum SportsNet’s Mike Trudell.

Davis explained that he didn’t follow football much growing up, but he had friends on the Packers by the time he chose a team. He takes plenty of heat for it, but he doesn’t care.

Chicago beat Green Bay 31-7, so Davis will have to wear the dreaded Bears jersey.
