But, instead of putting the following kickoff somewhere that it couldn’t be returned, the Eagles opted to kick the ball into the field of play, which allowed Jaguars running back Ameer Abdullah to return the ball 50-plus yards to put Jacksonville in position to convert a game-winning field goal, which they did.
Nick Sirianni Says He Cost Eagles Win Over Jaguars
The decision to allow the Jaguars a return opportunity in that situation was a poor one that ending up costing Philadelphia a much-needed win. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni acknowledged as much after the game, as he shouldered the blame for the loss.

“You know, the guys fought so hard, and then I don’t make the decision that, you know, that I should make at the end of the game, and I cost us that game, and I put that fully on me,” Sirianni said.
“At the end of the day, I didn’t make the right decision and it cost us the game. You know, and so there’s no other way around it. There’s nothing really else to say about that. It’s just, you know, I didn’t do my job good enough in that situation.”
