The total cost of renovating the 9-acre park was estimated at $7.8 million, funded through the state grant and local park impact fees.

The park’s new features include a plaza, picnic pavilion, a BMX skills course spanning 10,000 to 14,000 square feet for all ages, redesigned playground and splash pad. The renovation also included an expanded parking lot, multipurpose lawn, pollinator garden, half-mile multipurpose path, fitness stations and restrooms. The expanded parking lot added 29 spaces and another entrance, according to the city.

The playground features accessible swings, a spinner and rubber surfacing, while the splash pad has a river theme. Other additions include an outdoor amphitheater, an elevated boardwalk through an oak grove and a BMX course with skate features.

The park was redesigned in collaboration with the Wilton Rancheria, Yoche Dehe Wintun Nation and Shingle Springs Rancheria, according to a city news release.

The project began with a community survey in 2021 asking residents what improvements they wanted at the park. Construction began in August 2025 with a groundbreaking ceremony attended by local elected officials, members of the West Sacramento City Council and Rep. Doris Matsui, D-Sacramento.

The city opened Washington Park, a new half-acre playground in the Washington District, in June. It also initiated a $64 million renovation of Bryte Park in August. The city is also involved in improving Westacre and Alyce Norman parks.

The city planned to host Party in the Park, a community celebration, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
