Flames halted on 5-acre brush fire burning near Lincoln, Placer firefighters say

Forward progress has been halted after firefighters responded to a brush fire Tuesday near Lincoln.

The blaze, dubbed the Superior Fire, sparked about 3 p.m. near Superior Town Road and Bald Hill Road and threatened at least one structure in the Fowler area of Placer County, according to the Placer County Fire Department, which is operated by Cal Fire.

Firefighters reported that forward progress had stopped just before 3:45 p.m. after charring four to five acres of vegetation in grassy and oak woodland fuels, said Mary Eldridge, a spokesperson for the Cal Fire Nevada-Yuba Placer unit.

Additional resources were expected as crews mopped up. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
