The Putah Fire was reported at 11:35 a.m. off Highway 128, just west of Winters, according to the Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit of Cal Fire. The blaze was burning uphill to the north in light, flashy fuels as of Monday afternoon, a spokesperson for LNU said.
A 40-acre prescribed burn in the same area was expected in the same and was scheduled to burn through Friday, though Cal Fire officials were not able to confirm what sparked the Putah Fire or if it was related to the planned burn.
“Right now, we’re just working on containing this fire,” a Cal Fire LNU spokesperson said. “Aircraft and air tankers have been working on trying to box it in with fire retardant and slow it down.”

Winds in the area are gusting between 15 and 20 mph from the south, according to gauge data collected by the National Weather Service.
No structures were threatened by flames. At least 10 engines, one water tender, one helicopter, three dozers and four hand crews were assigned to the Putah Fire, according to firefighters.
