A three-alarm fire that broke out Friday afternoon at the old Iron Works warehouse in downtown Stockton is now under control with crews expected to remain at the scene for a few hours.

At 12:30 Friday, the Stockton Fire Department said it received a report about a structure fire at 345 N. Harrison St.
Fire crews arriving at the scene said they found a metal single-story warehouse that was fully involved in flames.
Bryan Carr, Stockton Fire Department Fire Chief said the fire immediately rose to a second-alarm fire.
Carr said firefighters started an interior fire attack, but had to pull out because the fire expanded at a quick rate. Firefighters then switched to a defensive attack and called a third alarm-fire.
The three-alarm fire resulted in about eight fire engines and three ladder trucks with about 40 personnel, Carr said.
He said firefighters actively fought the fire for about 40 to 45 minutes.
“Then we got a good knockdown on it,” Carr said.
No injuries were reported from the fire, officials said.
According to Carr, there was damage to several warehouses that were next to the original fire unit.

“We had the original unit, one warehouse to the north and a partial warehouse just to the west,” Carr said. “We ended up saving probably another two to three adjacent warehouses that weren’t affected by the fire.”
When asked if the warehouse was occupied at the time of the fire, Carr said there were items inside the building, but it was unclear if there was actual business operating at the time of the fire.
Carr said officials believe there may have been propane tanks inside the original warehouse where the fire first started.
Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) was at the scene assisting fire crews at the scene by deenergizing powerlines that were “high intention powerlines.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
