The 2026 primary election is on Tuesday, June 2.<\/p>\n

When can I vote in California 2026 primary election?<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

California voters can begin returning their ballots at an Early Voting site.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

While operation hours at Early Voting sites vary by county, polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day \u2014 Tuesday, June, 2.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cNo voters who arrive after the polls close may cast votes,\u201d according to the California Secretary of State website.<\/p>\n

At 8 p.m., county elections officials will begin tallying the results.<\/p>\n

Can I take time off work to vote in California?<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

Under California Elections Code, California workers can take time off to vote if they don\u2019t have enough time outside of working hours to cast a ballot while polls are open.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo more than two hours of the time taken off for voting shall be without loss of pay,\u201d the law says.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The time away from work to vote should be taken at the \u2014 whichever causes the least disruption to the workday \u2014 unless the employer and employee agree on another arrangement.<\/p>\n

According to California\u2019s Elections Code, employers should also post a notice about voting leave at least 10 days before a statewide election in a place where employees can easily see it.<\/p>\n
