Mikey Williams has withdrawn his name from the transfer portal and will return to the Sacramento State men\u2019s basketball program to play for coach Mike Bibby his junior season.<\/p>\n

A 5-star prospect out of high school where he bust onto the national prep scene with a 77-point game as a freshman in San Diego, Williams signed with Sac State before last season. He had previous college stops at Memphis State and the University of Central Florida.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

With the Hornets, the 6-foot-2 guard averaged 17.1 points in 21 games, missing the last stretch of games with injuries. He electrified overflow home crowds with his play, including dunks, as the Hornets went 10-4 in new Hornet Pavilion.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Williams has been a focal point in the behind-the-scenes docuseries that is airing on Roku, called \u201cSac State: Fear Nothing.\u201d It is a six-part series with new episodes dropping on Fridays. The fourth installment airs this week.<\/p>\n

Seven Hornets players entered the portal after the injury-ravaged club went 10-21 in Bibby\u2019s first season. The Hornets went 6-12 in their 29th and final season in the Big Sky Conference and will enter the California-heavy Big West Conference this upcoming academic year.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Jeremiah Cherry, a center, signed with San Diego State, having grown up in the area. Forward Mark Lavrenov, The Bee\u2019s Player of the Year out of Placer County\u2019s Rocklin High School, signed with New Mexico State.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

As of Tuesday, Prophet Johnson, Jeremiah Nyarko, Jahni Summers and Jayden Teat were in the portal. Johnson seeks an extra year of eligibility from the NCAA. Bibby told The Sacramento Bee recently that the Hornets need \u201chelp everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n
