The annual Sunday holiday falls on June 21, this year.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Father\u2019s Day was first celebrated<\/u> in 1910 in Washington state, mainly as an offshoot of Mother\u2019s Day, which was established six years earlier by President Woodrow Wilson, History.com said.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

But the day honoring dads didn\u2019t become a national holiday until 1972.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Along with the perhaps more traditional picnic, celebratory dinner, hike, round of golf or other family get-together, here are some additional options for spending the day with dad.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what to know:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Root for the home team<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

The A\u2019s take on the Los Angeles Angels at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The game begins at 1:05 p.m. Sunday and includes a Hawaiian shirt giveaway<\/u> for the holiday, MLB said. Arrive early before the shirts run out.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Early-arriving fans can enjoy complimentary ice cream while supplies last, and children under age 14 are invited to run the bases at the stadium after the game ends.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Relax on the river<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

City Cruises offers a one-hour Father\u2019s Day ride<\/u> along the Sacramento River.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The cruise, which has a causal attire dress code, features a full bar with cocktails, wine and beer available for purchase.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

It also will feature live narration on Sacramento River facts and history.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Seating is limited for the cruise, which begins boarding at 11:45 a.m. on Front Street between K and L streets. Advance ticket purchasesa and reservations are recommended.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Sunday drives in a classic car<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

Visitors to the California Automotive Museum<\/u> on the third Saturday of each month get a \u201cSunday drive\u201d in a classic car with the price of admission, the museum said.<\/p>\n

The museum, 2200 Front St., is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last admission at 4 p.m.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

It features more than 130 vintage vehicles along with rotating and special exhibits, the museum said.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Exhibits include an 1880s Columbia \u201cPenny Farthing\u201d bicycle, a 1900 Locomobile steam car and several early Ford cars, including a 1908 Model T.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Other exhibits include classic cars of the 1950s and 1960s all the way up to modern electric vehicles.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Train excursion along the river<\/h2>\n

<\/p>\n

The California Railroad Museum in Old Sacramento offers 45-minute train excursions along the Sacramento River.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Trains depart from the Central Pacific Passenger Station at 930 Front St. in Old Sacramento.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Because the trains are historic, wheelchairs, mobility devices and strollers are not allowed in the coaches, which must be entered via narrow stairways.<\/p>\n
