The report said this could cause accelerated roadway deterioration.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>El Dorado Hills\u2019 Silva Valley Parkway and Highway 50 interchange would also be affected by increased regional traffic. Standard mitigation measures would not fully offset this increase, the report said, raising infrastructure concerns.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>With this in mind, Supervisors Greg Ferrero and George Turnboo asked their colleagues Tuesday to direct staff to explore creating a separate account to house a portion of tax revenues collected from the development. This would be in addition to funds already available for infrastructure projects.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cEl Dorado County has never had a project like Costco before,\u201d Ferrero said. \u201c(If this) project is approved, it will likely help the county\u2019s budget for years to come and provide an added retail convenience for our residents. However, there are significant impacts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>The supervisors\u2019 proposal was met with mixed reactions.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Supervisor Brian Veerkamp expressed concern about setting a precedent. He said it wouldn\u2019t gain traction among local voters and that roadways are the county\u2019s responsibility.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Several El Dorado Hills residents wrote to supervisors ahead of Tuesday\u2019s meeting in support of Turnboo and Ferrero\u2019s proposal.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cEl Dorado Hills deserves revenue that will offset the impact of roadway maintenance,\u201d resident Cindy Hunter wrote in a letter to the board.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>After discussion, supervisors changed the language of Turnboo and Ferrero\u2019s proposal, directing staff to explore funding options for road work without limiting them to a separate account. The revised proposal received unanimous support.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>If approved, this would be the first Costco in El Dorado County.
