The nonprofit said it considers factors such as rates of preventable errors, injuries and infections to help patients pick the best hospital near them for care.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Some of the collected data in its Hospital Safety Grades is voluntarily reported by hospitals to Leapfrog, and other data is collected from other sources such as from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<h2>How did Sacramento-area hospitals rank?<\/h2>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Ten Sacramento hospitals received \u201cA\u201d grades:<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sutter Medical Center, 2825 Capitol Ave.<\/li>\n<li>Sacramento Kaiser Foundation Hospital &#8211; South Sacramento, 6600 Bruceville Road,<\/li>\n<li>South Sacramento Methodist Hospital of Sacramento, 7500 Hospital Drive,<\/li>\n<li>Sacramento Mercy San Juan Medical Center, 6501 Coyle Ave., Carmichael<\/li>\n<li>Sutter Davis Hospital, 2000 Sutter Place, Davis<\/li>\n<li>Woodland Memorial Hospital, 1325 Cottonwood St., Woodland<\/li>\n<li>Sutter Roseville Medical Center, 1 Medical Plaza Drive, Roseville<\/li>\n<li>Kaiser Foundation Hospital &#8211; Vacaville, 1 Quality Drive, Vacaville<\/li>\n<li>Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital, 11815 Education St., Auburn<\/li>\n<li>Marshall Medical Center, 1100 Marshall Way, Placerville<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Eight Sacramento-area hospitals received \u201cB\u201d grades. Two hospitals that had previously received \u201cA\u201d grades, Sacramento Mercy General Hospital and Kaiser Foundation Hospital &#8211; Roseville, received \u201cB\u201d graded. And Adventist Health Lodi Memorial received a \u201cB\u201d after previously receiving a \u201cC\u201d in spring 2025.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sacramento Mercy General Hospital, 4001 J St.,<\/li>\n<li>Kaiser Foundation Hospital &#8211; Sacramento, 2025 Morse Ave.<\/li>\n<li>Sacramento Mercy Hospital of Folsom, 1650 Creekside Drive, Folsom<\/li>\n<li>Kaiser Foundation Hospital &#8211; Roseville, 1600 Eureka Road, Roseville<\/li>\n<li>Vacaville 60th Medical Group, Travis Air Force Base, 101 Bodin Circle, Travis<\/li>\n<li>NorthBay Medical Center, 1200 B. Gale Wilson Blvd., Fairfield<\/li>\n<li>Adventist Health and Rideout, 726 Fourth St., Marysville<\/li>\n<li>Adventist Health Lodi Memorial<b>,<\/b> 975 S. Fairmont Avenue, Lodi<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>UC Davis Medical Center received a \u201cC\u201d grade. It was the only hospital in the Sacramento area with that grade.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cUC Davis Medical Center is proud to be consistently recognized as one of the <u>best hospitals<\/u> in America and ranked #1 in Sacramento by influential organizations and publications such as U.S. News and World Report.,\u201d a UC Davis Health spokesperson said in response to the report.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are dozens of ranking reports compiled by third-party groups; we don\u2019t always participate, as many of those surveys do not accurately capture the true quality of care,\u201d the spokesperson said. \u201cWe believe the Leapfrog survey results are not reflective of all of our data, which shows our true quality and the work we do for patients.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>NorthBay VacaValley Hospital at 1000 Nut Tree Road in Vacaville was rated \u201cgrade not assigned.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/sandiegorelocationnews.com\/index.php\/2026\/05\/07\/junos-kitchen-closed-but-thats-not-the-end-of-the-story-heres-whats-next\/\">Juno\u2019s Kitchen closed, but that\u2019s not the end of the story. Here\u2019s what\u2019s next<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>In keeping with a recent court ruling, Leapfrog said it has rated hospitals that did not take part in the survey as \u201cgrade not assigned.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<h2>What to know about the Leapfrog court ruling<\/h2>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>A judge on March 6 ordered Leapfrog to scrub poor grades for several South Florida hospitals from its reports, describing the scoring methodology as misleading and harmful for patients and \u201cpunitive\u201d for medical centers that declined to participate in the voluntary surveys, The Miami Herald reported.<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u200bThis ruling validates what hospitals across the country have experienced firsthand: Leapfrog is an organization built on deceptive and unfair practices that harms the very same patients it claims to serve. We brought this lawsuit because patients deserve transparency,\u201d Maggie Gill, eastern group president of the Palm Beach Health Network, which includes the hospitals named in the suit, said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>Leah Binder, Leapfrog Group\u2019s president and CEO, said the group would appeal the ruling, The Miami Herald reported.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf this decision was allowed to stand, the implications would seriously undermine all published ratings and reviews in all industries, not just Leapfrog\u2019s ratings of the safety of hospitals,\u201d Binder said in a statement. \u201cThe decision gives businesses in Florida the right to sue ratings organizations if they feel harmed by a rating of their product. Ratings everywhere are potentially at risk now, from Amazon to Experian to Moody\u2019s to Yelp.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>In 2025, the Leapfrog Group gave UC Davis Medical Center a \u201cD,\u201d The Sacramento Bee previously reported. The hospital said in response that it had not taken part in the survey.<\/p>\n<p><!-- --><!--]--><!--[--><\/p>\n<p>It did participate in Leapfrog\u2019s Spring 2026 Hospital Safety Grades survey.
