Authorities are searching for a 16-year-old girl who has been missing for more than a week and was last seen in Fair Oaks.

Dela Mayberry was last seen around 9 a.m. Sept. 18 near Dewey and St. James drives in Sacramento County, the California Highway Patrol said in an Ebony Alert issued Friday. The intersection is near Del Campo High School, where Mayberry is a student.
The CHP said it issued the alert on behalf of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office after being notified Friday.
Mayberry was described as about 5-foot-1 and 110 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. She was believed to be on foot, according to the CHP alert.

An Ebony Alert, first introduced in 2024, allows law enforcement to ask the public for help in cases involving “the suspicious or unexplainable disappearance of a Black woman or Black person,” according to the agency. It is intended to help locate missing Black people who are considered endangered because of their age or the suspicious circumstances surrounding their disappearance.
Friday’s Ebony Alert was the second issued in four days by the CHP on behalf of Sacramento County sheriff’s officials. The agency issued an alert Tuesday for 16-year-old Azaria Higginbotham, who was last seen Sept. 4 in south Sacramento. That alert remained active as of Friday afternoon, according to the CHP.
