A bear that has been traveling through Roseville and Rocklin appears to be moving north after new sightings in Lincoln.

Several Lincoln residents reported seeing a bear Friday near Wagon Wheel Lane and Overland Lane in the Sun City neighborhood, according to a Lincoln Police Department’s post on social media. The most recent sighting was reported near Oak Tree Lane and Highway 193.
The latest reports are about 10 miles north of where a bear was sighted Wednesday in Roseville. Another bear sighting was reported Tuesday in Rocklin.
Lincoln police spokesperson Lt. Zach Eaton said officers aren’t certain it’s the same animal, though its travel pattern suggests it could be.

Eaton said the bear, estimated to weigh about 300 pounds and standing about 6 feet tall on its hind legs, was last seen around 1 p.m. following waterways along Auburn Ravine on the edge of the city before wandering toward rural Lincoln.

None of the residents reported the bear behaving aggressively, the department said, and there was no threat to the community.
Lincoln police were working with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Eaton said.
At times, bears enter developed areas while searching for food or water, wildlife officials told The Sacramento Bee earlier this week. Residents should not approach bears. Anyone who encounters a bear behaving aggressively should call 911.
