Firefighters stopped a structure fire in Antelope that impacted at least two buildings on Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

About noon, crews from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded to the 4900 block of Hidden Meadow Way in Antelope, where flames had already impacted two homes, Capt. Mark Nunez, a spokesperson for Metro Fire, said in a news release.
Due to the fire’s conditions, the first crew at the scene called for a second alarm, according to the release. A two-alarm fire classification brings additional crews to the area when an incident is considered more serious than a standard one-alarm event. At least 11 engines, as well as various other firefighting units, had been assigned to the fire at one point, according to Metro Fire’s active incidents log.
Crews were able to stop the fire from expanding into additional homes, firefighters said.

Nunez said that one child escaped the home before the fire intensified thanks to a neighbor. No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, though Nunez said preliminary investigation appears the fire began outside one of the homes before extending inside.
