Demoted to Double-A San Antonio, the 26-year-old reliever struck out three of the five batters he faced in earning his first save in the Missions’ 10-9 win at Midland on Saturday.

Hawkins allowed one hit in 1⅓ scoreless innings in lowering his ERA to 5.79.
Hawkins was added to the 40-man roster over the offseason after posting a 1.50 ERA in 60 innings split between high Single-A Fort Wayne and the Missions.
He opened the season at Triple-A El Paso and had a 6.17 ERA in 23 ⅓ innings before he was sent to the Missions.
Hawkins turned in two scoreless frames across his first two appearances before allowing three runs in 1⅓ innings in an outing at Midland on July 8.
Hawkins is ranked No. 12 in the system by MLB.com.
Left-hander Jagger Haynes (4.57 ERA) allowed six runs in three innings in the start.
First baseman Luis Verdugo (.724 OPS) went 2-for-4 with his seventh homer and three RBIs.
Third baseman Ryan Jackson (.645 OPS) went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and a stolen base.
Right fielder Braedon Karpathios (.713 OPS) went 2-for-3 with an RBI, two walks and two runs scored.

Padres 15, Rangers 7: RF Jesmaylin Arias (.810 OPS) drove in four runs on two hits, including his seventh homer. CF Fabian Alcantara (.623 OPS) drove in two runs on three hits, including his third homer.
