The 20-round MLB Draft is continuing on Sunday, ahead of the MLB All-Star Week taking place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
So far, a nephew of a legendary MLB slugger and a son of an iconic MLB home run hitter are among the players selected in the 2026 Draft thus far.
Barry Bonds’ nephew, Peyton Bonds, was taken by the San Francisco Giants in the third round of the 2026 MLB Draft. Peyton Bonds, who is the nephew of the home run king, played collegiately as an outfielder at Rutgers.
He’ll head west, hoping to eventually make the San Francisco Giants, for which his uncle starred for many years.

“Barry Bonds built his legacy in that same SF jersey. Peyton’s Round 3 pick carries an $887K slot value – after federal tax, FICA, and California’s 13.3% top bracket, he keeps roughly $478K of it before he’s played a single pro game,” reports stated.
Jim Thome’s son goes in the MLB Draft, too
Jim Thome, who starred for many years in Chicago and in Cleveland, got to see his son, Landon Thome, selected in the MLB Draft, too.
Landon Thome was taken with the No. 34 overall pick in the 2026 MLB Draft over the weekend.
It’s pretty cool to see your relatives going high in the MLB Draft. What a weekend for the Bonds and Thome families, indeed.
