It’s official: Europeans have changed their opinion of America during the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup.

Thousands of Europeans, from countries like England, Norway, Switzerland, Spain, etc. flocked to North America for the 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup. While the United States, Mexico and Canada acted as official hosts for the global soccer tournament, most of the action took place in America. Europeans used the World Cup as a chance to visit all parts of the United States, from Miami to Kansas City to Los Angeles to New York, and everywhere in between.
Prior to the World Cup, many Europeans had a tense view of the United States, from everything they see on social media and watch on TV. But, many of them have learned that their views couldn’t be further from the truth.
World Cup fans from Europe have admitted that they were very wrong about what they thought about the United States.
A man from Switzerland spoke out ahead of his team’s Round of 8 match against Argentina.
“In Europe, we heard so much bad news about the United States, about Trump, about ICE. Here, we can meet a lot of friendly people. . It’s so cool that we are here in the States,” the fan admitted.
Europeans are enjoying all of America’s finer things
Outside of things like food, fashion, landscape and culture, Europeans are enjoying another big aspect of America: Air-conditioning.
“One thing the World Cup has taught me is that Americans might be onto something with this air conditioning stuff,” Victor Vacheron, a 35-year-old comedian and software designer, said on Instagram.
Another European journalist said: “It’s like stepping into a fridge!”
There can be a lot to love about the United States, with AC being at the top of the list for many.
