The tractor-trailer slammed into the vehicles before plunging off an embankment. The collision was so forceful that the big rig’s cab was “completely ripped off,” according to CHP dispatcher logs. The crash blocked all westbound lanes.

Up to six vehicles, as well as the tractor-trailer, sustained major damage in the chain-reaction crash, according to dispatcher logs. Motorists stopped to help people involved in the collision.
