The collision was reported just east of Newcastle Road at about 1:49 p.m., according to the CHP.

Officer Mike Hamilton, a spokesperson for the CHP’s Auburn office, said preliminary information indicates the driver of a gray Chevrolet Silverado made an unsafe turning movement and struck the front tire of a semi-truck.

The Silverado then veered off the roadway, traveled up an embankment and overturned, coming to rest on its roof in the third lane.

Emergency crews responded to the scene, and a tow truck was requested to assist with vehicle recovery.

The collision remains under investigation. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes, expect delays and exercise caution while emergency personnel work in the area.
